I believe the fashion industry has to adapt to actual circumstances – our environment is all that we have.
Let’s make this a better world.
Let’s care for our garments and use them a long time. Let’s treat them as our grand parents treated their clothes – with a lot of respect and hopefully, love.
Let’s repair them, air them, wash them kindly and use them a lot. When we finally don’t want them anymore there are tons of choices of what to do with them, when we’ve made that decision.
There are people waiting for that exact piece.
Abronnhagen stands for the philosophy of long-lasting garments, either it is the cut or the material.
What is sustainability actually about?
Sustainability is about reusing clothes that we already have, giving garments away to charity or friends, purchasing our new beloved pieces with a long term focus, paying attention to the fabrics and how the garments fit us and keeping ourselves informed about the production chain. I.e. doing our shopping with a conscious mind.
My aim is to create clothes in silk, wool, hemp, bambu or other natural fibres, alternatively recycled fabrics. Cotton needs a lot of water to grow, while hemp for instance almost grows by itself. I therefore try to use either organic cotton or a recycled one. When it comes to manufactured chemical fibres, I’m a fan of tencel, a sort of lyocell.
For your daily wear it is better to use a vintage garment or one made from donated fabrics or recycled fibres of course rather than purchasing a new, non-organic one. I want everyone including myself to have this in mind. It’s a far too important question these days – our environment.
